Planning Board Function
The Planning Board's purpose is to maximize the effectiveness of a community's land use and infrastructure. The members formulate plans for the developmemt and management of Town areas, typically analyzing land use compatibility as well as economic, environmental and social trends. In developing their plan for a community (whether commercial, residential, agricultural, natural or recreational), Planning Board members consider a wide array of issues such as sustainability, air pollution, traffic congestion, crime, land values, legislation and zoning codes.
The Board consists of five (5) members appointed by the Town Board, each for a term of five (5) years on a staggered basis.
The Planning Board meets every third Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Town of Mohawk's Town Hall 2-4 Park Street, Fonda, NY 12068.
